Lissa Slay is a freelance director, educator, and teaching artist, holding a B.A. – Directing for the Theatre, M.S. – Education, Curriculum & Instruction, and a K-8 teaching credential with authorization in Drama/Theatre, from California State University, Fullerton.
Lissa is a full-time elementary theatre teacher for Orange Unified School District, teaching theatre to grades 5 and 6; she is also the Director of Education for American Coast Children’s Theatre out of Vanguard University, a Segerstrom Center for the Performing Arts teaching artist, a Curriculum Integration Specialist for The Collaboratory, and occasionally moonlights as a casting associate for the acclaimed Missoula Children’s Theatre. Formerly, Lissa was an adjunct theatre professor for Chaffey College, and resident director for JStage Youth Theatre at the Merage JCC of Irvine. She continues to freelance as both a director and teaching artist, and specializes in directing musicals in South Orange County schools that have limited VAPA programming.
In addition to her many roles, Lissa’s favorite ones include being married to the love of her life, Kevin, and mommy to Penelope Rose and Finley John.
