Acting Classes for Adults Ages 28 Plus at The Playground

Maybe you have thought about acting since college, or perhaps you just finished binge-watching a series and wondered, “Could I do that?” The Playground built a space for adults ages 28 and up who are ready to find out.

Our students include lawyers who want creative outlets, new parents reclaiming their identity, and plenty of people who simply want a fresh challenge. We keep classes small, we laugh a lot, and we treat every student like a working actor from day one.

What We Actually Do in Class

Most evening sessions begin with ten minutes of catching up while everyone gets settled in. After that we warm up: light stretching, a few tongue-twisters, and breathing exercises that help you shake off the workday. Then we dive into the scene you were handed the previous week. You and your partner work the moment, I watch, we reset, you try it again with a new choice. By the end of the night you will have:

  • One fully broken-down scene you can perform cold
  • A personal “hook” that makes the character feel like you
  • Notes you can apply immediately at the next audition
  • A quiet confidence that carries into the office the next morning

We film every third class so you can watch your progress on a big-screen TV. Most adults are shocked at how natural they already look, they just needed permission to trust it.

Scheduling That Fits Real Life

  • Tuesday nights, 6:30pm – 9pm (perfect if you commute from the Westside)

We run rolling four-week cycles, so you can jump in whenever life calms down.

No Tinsel-Town Nonsense

You will not hear us promise “stardom in six weeks.” We will teach you how to walk into an audition room without shaking, how to listen like a real human, and how to walk out feeling you did your best work; whether the part is yours or not. Along the way you will:

  • Meet casting directors who actually remember your name
  • Learn why your “boring” day job stories make great monologues
  • Discover you can cry on cue (and stop when the director yells cut)
  • Realize the shy guy from accounting just became your favorite scene partner

If you simply want a fun hobby that makes Friday drinks more interesting, we are here for that too.

Ready to try? Call (310) 286-6770 or email contact@theplayground.com. We will invite you to watch a session, meet the group, and decide if the timing feels right.
