Junior Varsity Acting Classes at The Playground
Your child has already put in the work. They showed up to the intro classes, learned the basics, and proved they can focus. Junior Varsity is what comes after that. This program is for kids ages 7 to 13 who are ready to move past games and start building real acting skills.
This is not a daycare with a script. Every student in the room has completed the introductory courses and is here to work. That changes the energy completely. Your child will work with scene partners who listen, remember their lines, and care about getting better. The feedback gets more specific. The scenes get longer. The expectations go up, and the kids rise to meet them.
What Happens in Class
Over an hour and a half each session, students dig into scene study, character work, and on camera basics. They learn how to break down a script, make choices that feel real, and work with a partner without stepping on each other. These are the habits that separate kids who play pretend from kids who can actually act.
Pick the Time That Works
We run four sessions each week so families can find a slot that fits. Saturday afternoons at 1:15 PM or 5:15 PM. Sunday late morning at 11:00 AM, which is currently sold out, or Sunday evening at 5:15 PM. Choose the one that works with your schedule and stick with it. Consistency matters more than the specific day.
The Right Age to Build Habits
7 – 13 years old is the perfect age. Kids are old enough to handle direction and young enough to stay loose and imaginative. If they build good habits now, they do not have to unlearn bad ones later. They grow up thinking this level of focus is normal.
