Meet Acting Teacher & Studio Assistant
MAGGIE O’GARA
Maggie O’Gara is an actor, performer, and teaching artist with a background in musical theatre, television, improvisation, comedy, dance, and voiceover. She holds a B.A. in Musical Theatre with a minor in Dance from the University of Tulsa and has continued her training with iO Chicago and The Second City, where she studied improvisation, music improv, conservatory performance, and writing.
Maggie’s professional acting experience spans stage and screen, including television work on Apartment 101 and live theatre productions such as The Wizard of Oh No! at the Hollywood Fringe. She is also a voiceover artist whose work includes animation, commercial, narration, e-learning, podcast, and videogame projects.
As a teacher at The Playground Acting Conservatory, Maggie brings her professional experience, enthusiasm, and love of performance into the classroom. Her training in both musical theatre and improvisation informs an approach that encourages students to take creative risks, make strong choices, listen deeply, and fully commit to their characters. She strives to create a supportive and energetic environment where students can build confidence while developing the practical skills of a working performer.
Maggie is especially grateful to Gayla Goehl, Director of The Playground Acting Conservatory, for welcoming her into the school community, believing in her as an artist and teacher, and providing mentorship and guidance along the way. Maggie is honored to be part of helping the next generation of actors discover their voices, build their confidence, and find joy in the craft.
Maggie believes that great acting begins with curiosity, imagination, generosity, and the courage to play. Her goal is to help each student grow not only as a performer, but as a confident and creative individual.
